Welcome to scribingwithscout

My apologies to the Internet and other bloggers in advance.  What you don’t need is one more stay-at-home mom jotting down random thoughts about her day, yet here I am, jotting down random thoughts about what I am most familiar, being a stay-at-home mom.  No, I won’t go on about my fourteen well-spent years on the soccer sidelines or my organizational skills at running a household and several schedules simultaneously all while volunteering at school or my top ten list of how great it is to be a mom of boys (although I have to admit, it’s pretty great!).  I do confess, however, that these topics may appear at some point and it would be therapeutic for me to examine them further.  It’s always a game day decision.

I have spent worthwhile time perusing blogs about raising boys, adjusting to teenage boys, and watching adolescent boys leave for college.  What I have come to realize is that I too have a voice, inspired by the bloggers that came before me, and I’ve waited long enough for that voice to be heard.   Now an “empty-nester,” a term I loathe, I am finding that voice and will hopefully offer some humor and practicality to your day should you decide to come along.

I want to thank the talented women in my creative writing class for also inspiring me to take this plunge, although they might be unaware of their influence.  They were my first audience and enthusiastically received my written work without judgement, providing the courage for me to pursue this blogging endeavor.  I am eternally grateful.

Apologies aside, I hope you will enjoy my insight.  Internet, here I come!!!

  • I’m so excited to read your blog! You have infinite wisdom and humor to share with others. Happy for you and proud of you for sharing your incredible insight and for rediscovering your voice, my beautiful friend! 💗🙌😊

  • At first when I started reading this I thought I was reading a professional article that I had to scroll through and get to your blog..( that didn’t come out as it was intended LOL ), This is truly valuable thing you are pursuing keep it up girlfriend! You have a real flair for words on paper

  • Okay Mrs. Tricolli!!!!

  • Looking forward to reading more!!! This is just great!!!

  • I can’t wait to read it all! I love your mind, and you are no ordinary “stay at home” blogger. You’re my T!! So happy for you (and all of us that get to read).

  • I love this more than anything I’ve read in years. I can’t wait to read the next one and the next and the next …. I could write professionally for thirty years (and some would say I have) and never get to this level of authenticity, humor and inspiration.

Only change I’d make is in how you describe yourself, Jackie. You may be all those things you describe in the beginning of your blog, but to me you are also -n unusually kind, endearing, sporty, smart and positive light. And your two amazing boys make my day whenever I get to see them. Keep up the amazing work!

    • you have completed my day! wonderful neighbor, beautiful friend who has enriched my life just for knowing you! how about sharing your journey and what you have accomplished, Dr. Boyle!!! And yes, Aidan made it to tennis on time; with time to spare actually. I might have to take my chauffeur status back to active! Love you!

  • Jackie,
All of us, as home moms, come to that moment when our job is done. We are retired. We are empty nesters. What next? Kudos to you for finding something that gives you pleasure, fulfillment and enriches your life and others’. I had dabbled in the idea of blogging about various topics, but thought I needed to find a unique niche and who would read it???? Thanks for inspiring. Good luck!!

IT IS GREAT THAT YOU ARE EXPLORING NEW OPTIONS IN LIFE AS YOU MAKE THE TRANSITION INTO ANOTHER PHASE OF YOUR LIFE. YOU ARE YOUNG, INTELLIGENT, COMPASSIONATE AND IT IS TIME TO ACCESS YOUR INTUITION. MY WISH FOR EVERYONE IS TO FIND THEIR PASSION. I WAS BLESSED TO FIND MINE IN 1987 WHEN I STARTED WORKING AT THE CARON FOUNDATION. TRY DIFFERENT THINGS UNTIL YOU FIND YOUR PASSION. LISTEN TO YOUR INNER SELF FOR ANSWERS. FOR ME WHEN YOU FIND YOUR PASSION, YOU HAVE FOUND WHAT GOD CREATED YOU TO BE ON THE PLANET EARTH…NATURE IS A GOOD WAY TO CONTACT YOUR SOUL.

  • Love you to pieces. Looking forward to everything you write or say or do- forever!!
